A Family Tradition for over 40 Years

The Toronto Boat Show has been an annual event in our family for a very long time. It started with me as a young boy going with my family and the tradition continues today with me taking my children. For me it all started with the entire family jumping in the old family station wagon making the trip to the show and knowing we arrived when I saw the grand entrance gates to Exhibition Place and then the smell of the roasted chestnuts from the street vendors just outside the doors. Once inside it was grand place where we could explore all the boats which ultimately lead to a family vote on which boat we should get. From the kids perspective, decisions were solely made on which cabins would make the best forts and who got the V-Berth or the Quarter berth and if lucky the aft cabin if one existed. I remember my parents buying our CS36 Traditional in 1982 and seeing these incredible boats on display at the show and subsequently going every weekend to the factory watching ours being built. If you were wondering, I ended up with the quarter birth and I was still ok with that. From the boats to the endless number of vendors from which we brought home many great finds we always enjoy this annual event. I would not do this review Justice if I did not mention the food, at least for my family the trip to the Boat Show is never complete unless we indulged in some boat show classics like the fudge, lemonade, ice cream dipped in chocolate and nuts and a shout out to Carmichael's as we always have to stop, sample and bring home that years favorite cured meat (usually done by vote again). Lastly and before we could call the trip complete we would have to make our way to the "little" pool to see if we could catch Twiggy. For all you regulars to the show you will know what I am talking about. Great family event and one that will continue in our family for years to come.

Great show

Had a great time at the boat show, especially enjoyed the displays of waterski tournament boats and the flying wakeboarders demonstrations.

summer's around the corner

The TIBS is the best thing going here in the winter. After tucking the boat away, spring seems so far away. Then the Boat Show emails start and we mark the calendar and buy tickets. Sometimes it's just us, or with friends or get a room to chat over all the cool stuff. Sometimes it is amazing how many people you bump into at the show or the hotel that you know, or make new friends. It gives you hope that the boat is outfitted with new purchases, and plans for cruising destinations make us feel that spring is really not hat far off. Love "the lake" and all the shows too. What a great way to spend a day or weekend getaway.!

Unique Boat event

Last year I went to this amazing boat show with my family. I love to drive a boat in a lake as I was in childhood. My whole family love to eat fish soup to much. so each member of our family want to involve in this event. We could not miss this special show. I can fish in the middle of the lake if I have a boat. But I always concern that which boat is suit for our family. So we will find it out with our passion again, we do believe we can get the best one for us finally.

A lifetime experience

My son and I and friends have been attending the Toronto Boat Show for over 30 years. We have bought a number of boats at the show. As well, we always buy some necessary items to complement our boating experience. It is the highlight of the winter experience and means that spring will soon be coming. We hope to continue for several more years.

A fun event to get excited about summer

Always like going to the boat show. For me being able to see and walk around brand new boats is only part of the attraction. As a cottage owner I appreciate the concentration of services and businesses selling gear that could be neat or useful for the upcoming season. And most will offer boat show discounts as well. I wouldn’t miss it.

Expensive toys for the Rich

I like to look at expensive toys. I cannot afford to buy them just to look at them! it is amazing how much the expensive boats cost. i wish the CRA audited everyone who bought a boat for over $250,000. Sour grapes on my part I guess.

Love it!

I love going to the boat show to break up my winter! I don't travel south in the winter so it's almost like a mini vacation to get me prepared for the boating season! I love looking through all the accessories and seeing all the new boats! Also enjoying a beer during my wandering is a nice touch.
