Great Show

I have now attended multiple shows over the years and they keep getting better. Gave me some education on my boat purchase. Provided information on what I should look for in a replacement dock. Where else do you get to talk to multiple vendors and look at their wares in the same day?? And the best part, my birthday is on the 26th so it is like a birthday party and presents to me every time I go. :-)

Boating and More!

Toronto Boat Show is not to be missed... for everything boat related, water play and even cottage items! It’s fun to visit the new release boats, research your next purchase, there’s always a bargain on accessories, great workshops & talks and fun activities for the kids. Enjoy a bit of pre-summer fun right in the middle of winter and connect with fellow boaters on the off-season!

Went to the boat show for the first time in a while last year. Great place to go to shop for a boat as there are all major makes there which makes it easy for comparison. Also with the amount of representation there it’s easy to ask the same questions to different manufacturers making it easy to remember answers.

My husband and I attended the boat showl for several years as we were deciding on the boat we wanted to purchase. The Toronto boat show definetly provided everything we needed to make our decision. Being able to see so many different styles and manufacturers in the same location saved us hours of time. The expert advice and knowledge and the chance to actually get onboard and get the feel of each boat was wonderful. We made a purchase and we love our boat. Now we can attend the show as boat owners in search of the latest products to enhance our boating experience. Thank you.

Great for boat accessories and sailing education!

I've been coming to the Toronto International Boat Show for years and it is an awesome event if you are at all interested in boating. I love coming to get great deals on boating accessories, clothing, equipment and to check out the new beautiful boats. Over the years, the focus of the show has shifted from sailboats to powerboats and other water craft, but it is still a great venue for buying associated products and seeing what is new. The last few years I have attended a few seminars and they have been outstanding. I will focus more on those this year- especially any seminar led by Pam Wall, a renown outfitter for those interested in offshore sailing. For die hard boaters, it is a welcome reprieve in January as we count down days til the spring launch!

Bridging the Off-Season Gap

I have a little mental trick I use to get me through non-boating season: 1. My favourite day of the off-season is Dec. 21, after that day every day of winter is getting longer, and therefore warmer as the sun creeps northward towards boating season! (You can actually FEEL the days lengthening!) 2. My SECOND most favourite day of the off-season is around mid-January in Ontario when the Toronto Boat Show opens and we can all bask in the almost sunny artificial lights and emerse ourselves in all things summer boating-related. 3. We make sure to take a week long vacation (really you need 10-14 days to properly unwind) in a sunny location on the water, ideally bareboat sailing in the BVIs. (Ideally towards Feb./Mar. when we're at wits end with winter - another treat to look forward to helps stave off the depression.... 4. When we come back IT'S TIME TO START PREPPING THE BOAT FOR LAUNCH on the last weekend of April! (Usually I have a winter project to do in the basement like making a new folding table for vessel.) April becomes a desperate juggle to leverage the warmest days for bottom-painting and polishing. The Boat Show is hugely therpeutic because it is possible to start early in the day and intersperse seminars and lectures with chats about boats and equipment of every possible description. Sadly there are many fewer sailboats on display than in days gone by, but it's always a pleasure to poke around in them, as well as check out a few of the enormous 'stink-pots' (as we sailors call them ;-) to see what the folks with money to burn on fuel are living like. The new sign-up system to get onto the larger boats is a big improvement over standing in endless lines that sometimes used to restrict you to an entire day in lineups, with no time to wander around. GO TO THE SHOW and experience a bit of summer in the midst of winter!
